WHAT'S NEW?
Mr. Sticky Sale – April 4
On Thursday, April 4, 6am-11am, we will have a Mr. Sticky fundraiser at the church. We’ll be counting on you to help sell pre-orders for Mr. Sticky sticky buns (and of course, buy some yourself!). Pre-Order forms are available at church. Please see Pastor Ray for more information, or to volunteer (3:30-11am).
Lent and Easter at St. Paul’s and Salem
Lent and Easter come early this year! LOCATION UPDATE: Our two churches will gather together for our Maundy Thursday service with Communion on March 28, 7pm, at St. Paul’s. For Easter Sunday, March 31, there will be the following services: Easter Sunrise Service, 6am, at the Crum Pavilion in Carsonville; 8am church service at Salem; and 10am service at St. Paul’s.
Stations of the Cross
Throughout Holy Week (March 24-30), you will have the opportunity to spend quiet time in meditation. Borrowing from other Christian traditions, we will have pictures and written prayers placed around the sanctuary, depicting scenes from the last 24 hours of Jesus’ life. This meditative environment is particularly appropriate for prayerful use on Good Friday. (An online presentation of the Stations of the Cross will again be provided this year – stay tuned.)
Prayer Vigil for the Holy Triduum (Maundy Thursday-Holy Saturday): March 28-30
Again this year, our two churches are partnering in a 48-hour continuous prayer vigil, between Maundy Thursday evening and Holy Saturday evening. Volunteers are asked to sign up for at least a one 45-minute time slot (you may also sign up for more than one). You may come to church to pray in the sanctuary, or pray at home. (If you will be praying at home, please put a * next to your name, just so we know who will be in the church building during the vigil.) Please try to schedule your time so that, between our two churches, we can cover all 48 hours. If you need help scheduling, please contact Pastor Ray.
AED Training Coming to St. Paul’s
Now that we have an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator), it’s important that people know how to use it, if the need should arise. On Sunday, April 7, Chief Ron Radel will join us, and provide brief training during worship on using an AED. Come join us as we dedicate our hearts to God and learn how to take care of our hearts!
CROP Walk – April 21
The Tri-Valley Ministerium will sponsor a CROP Walk on Sunday, April 21, starting at 2pm (raindate April 28). The fundraiser walk will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View. Water will be provided for walkers. If you are interested in walking, or sponsoring a walker, please see April Fetterolf to sign up or sponsor a walker.
Pine Creek Outreach Ministry Seeks New Volunteers – April 27
The volunteers at Pine Creek UMC who serve our community through their food bank and clothing closet are seeking new volunteers to assist with this important outreach. There will be an informational meeting at their church in Kushwa (Spring Glen) on April 27, 1pm. If you would like to help out in our community, this is an excellent way to do so. FYI, our own ongoing food collection helps to support both this ministry and St. John’s Emergency Food Closet in Hegins.
Hearing Assist System at St. Paul’s
The new sound system at church is set to meet the needs of the majority of the congregation, but we are aware that some folks may need a bit more volume. So please consider using our hearing assist system – it will enable you to personalize the volume of everything that comes through the sound system. These easy-to-use, over-the-ear speakers are very lightweight, and are compatible with most hearing aids. Just come early to church, so we can hook you up.
Share a God-Wink Experience?
Have you ever had the Lord or the Holy Spirit in some way touch you with so much power that you wanted to share with the world the glorious way you felt at the time? Have you ever had an experience so astonishing where you thought to yourself, “What are the odds of that?” Did you brush it off and call it a coincidence, or did you consider what happened to you a divine intervention where God was giving you a ‘wink,’ letting you know you have a purpose and inherent worth to Him? A famous author described these events and experiences as God-winks, and that’s what we would like to call them, too.
Would you like to share your God-wink experience with our church family and let your experience serve as uplifting inspiration, hope, encouragement, and a reminder that God is always with us – we’re never alone? We would love to hear your story during Sunday services. Contact Pastor Ray and tell him you want to share your God-wink story.
Worship Service CD Recordings Available
Don’t have internet to see our weekly online worship videos? How about an AUDIO CD version of the worship video – something that you can play on your home CD player? If you are interested in participating in worship by listening to the services, please contact Pastor Ray, and we’ll be glad to send you the weekly CD.
